Welcome to the Norwich and District Diabetes Youth Group Website

We are a voluntary group of parents and friends who offer support for families, raise funds for local hospitals and organise fun activities for children with diabetes and their families.

Welcome to the Norwich and District Diabetes Youth Group Website. This site is for members and their families to use to see the activities we are organising, get information and also to help each other understand the best ways of handling and controlling diabetes.

Our members range from 1yr to 17yr and benefit from lots of networking and support through subsidised group fun activities.

Our Facebook page is where you will find loads of information, photos of previous events and perhaps more importantly, you can get support from people who are in a similar situation as you.

Not only do we organise fun events for all the family but we also support Diabetes UK by sponsoring a research project annually for research into juvenile diabetes.

We also fund W H Smith's vouchers or equivalent to reward our brave young people who have begun to do their own testing and/or injections.

Our year ends with our annual Christmas Party with a professional disco, party food and drinks, a visit from Santa with a gift for all the kids, fun and and games and a raffle with top quality prizes.

National Paediatric Diabetes Audit

A report has been released by RCPCH for parents and carers of children with diabetes.

It is quite self-explanatory, and through it would hope that parents and carers would be able to talk / discuss with the diabetes team, results of the audit and ways to improve their child's outcomes.

It highlights the processes each child should have in any year of care and why.

Norfolk Broads Sailing Club

Dear all,

Harry enjoyed a fantastic week at the Norfolk Broads Sailing Club at Wroxham last week and who should we run into but none other than the Chairman of Diabetes UK, Peter Dixon?!

Mr Dixon very kindly allowed us to take a photo of him with Harry and thanked the youth group for all their hard work fundraising and raising awareness for Norfolk’s children & young people with Type 1 Diabetes.

He was delighted to hear how much easier Harry’s life is with a Dexcom CGM and an Omnipod Pump and spoke enthusiastically about up and coming possibilities for treatments.

I have arranged to keep in touch with him regarding progress in our cause! He also said he would be happy for this to go on our website, as would I as Harry & Martha’s parent!

With love Fen, Harry & Martha

Calling all children in Norfolk with Type 1!

We can’t change the fact that you have Type 1 Diabetes, but we might be able to improve how and where you receive your diabetes care and advice. Please tell us in words or pictures how you see your perfect Children’s Diabetes Centre?

Please click here and tell us what you think.

Chilled Driving Event featured in the EDP

We were thrilled to get a write-up in Nofolk's own EDP which featured T1 teenage drivers getting behind the wheel in April and learning to drive.

The event was inspired by recent changes to DVLA regulations which meant diabetic drivers have more choice in how they test their glucose levels before driving.
